I thank you all for helping me come to my senses. I was momentarily blinded by her beauty. I would be afraid to use it, and there is no room in the china cabinet.

I think I let this thought in my head to help me get over the hump of spending over $100.00 for a LN or Veritas plane. I am not rich, by any means, just way way better than when I was young. My retirement is still based upon the lottery.

My other problem is LOML. She thinks that I am too stingy with myself. Her one trip, with me, to a woodworking show, is the reason why I have a nice router table with a fancy Incra setup.

Anyway, thanks again for talking me off the ledge. I'll try not to do it again.

Whew, that was close! Maybe Sam needs to open a new board called "Tool Interventions". I imagine it wouldn't be used much, but when it is used - priceless.

(and yes, I did say get it anyway after pointing out another use for the money, but that was cuz I hate to deny a man his dreams - no matter how silly they may be.)

There are about 3 people on this website that might get the frank's chicken shack reference, but that's funny as ****!

I don't get it, but I'm assuming they serve more than chicken...?

Hmmm...I see Bridge City Tools is based in Portland. I wonder if they have a show room/retail store? Is so, next time we're in the city I should take the wife there, have her look at the prices as I drool. Then we'll stop by Woodcrafters or Rockler. When she sees those prices, she should let me have all I want...right?

I get it.... frank's chicken shack

I've personally never been there, but I know what you mean by Frank's Chicken Shack. It's probably one of those Jersey things.

I grew up in NJ but haven't lived there in about 8 years. I haven't heard any refrence to Frank's in a long time. I never went there but many of my friends spent LOTS of money there.

                  Thanks for the memories.

If you ask around, you'll find that nobody ever went there...

I'm guessing this is like one of the local "Gold" clubs that shows up as "Bob's Golf" or something on the credit card invoice? I am always astounded how people can actually spend money there, and so much of it. Usually the same people who pack lunch cause it's cheaper, heh.

I've been there but, if I remember correctly, it is a "juice bar", so it is 18 to get in. That was the big selling point for senior hs boys. You turn 18, you can go to Frank's

Ooooo, can I steal that idea? Then again, it's an hours drive to Woodcraft and Harbor Freight is right next door. May have to play my angles right... look at clamps in WC and then in HF... a crap router in HF and then a DeWalt router in WC. You get the picture.

I've been looking around for information on restoring planes and came across one reference that explained why the expensive combination planes are always in such good shape and in their original boxes - ended up being too difficult to use so no one used them.

I might splurge on a new hock blade and chipbreaker today - maybe $60 total - for one of my "restored" Millers Falls planes.

Apparently, you're right. Never ceases to amaze me how many people know how many things! Maybe it was a national franchise and they just changed the first name in every state! 'Irving's chicken house'??!
