  • Rikon slow speed grinder

    Rikon slow speed grinder

Got this for Christmas. So far I really like it. It is quite heavy and has both a 60 grit and a 120 grit wheel, both of which run very true. This thing is very quiet and, combined with my new "Blackhawk sharpening system" from Captain Eddie, does a very good job of sharpening my lathe chisels. I had been using a 6" Craftsman grinder running at 3500 rpm and the difference is night and day. The Rikon was only $99 at the time, although a local store now lists it at $149.

Harbor Freight Circular Saw Blade Sharpener

The Chicago Electric Power Tools Professional circular saw blade sharpener (Item#96687 at Harbor Freight) was on sale after coupon for $36 this month. My BT3 was bogging down ripping a stud earlier this week so I figured that after 8 years of intermittent use maybe the blade was due for its first sharpening. WorkSharp 2000

WorkSharp 2000 review WHY the 2000 over the 3000: Price! I purchased the 2000 instead of the 3000 because of the price difference of cost _plus_ shipping to Japan. The 2000 listed as 11 lbs and the 3000 listed as 17 lbs. That is an extra $50.00 for shipping alone over the 2000. The 3000 has a glass plate of which I would have needed two which would have added another pound. ;-) EXTRAS: I purchased two extra Edge Vision Wheels (for a total of 3) so that I could use 6 grits of pressure sen...

    Worksharp 3000

The only thing I dislike more than sanding is sharpening. This means I have a pile of dull chisels and planes that never work right when I need them. My chisels all have the factory edge on them and they tend to get abused. I chose the 3000 model over the 2000 model after reading all the glowing reviews of the 3000. I also watched a video review of the 2000 on lumberjocks.com. So, on with my first tool review... The box came via ups ground and was pretty dinged up. I opened the outer box and too...
