I own a Rikon 14" bandsaw mod. 10-325 (deluxe) and have been eyeballing the following:
A set of Carter micro adjust bearings,
A 3/4" Woodslicer blade-currently have a Timberwolf 3/4"
and a Kreg Bandsaw fence.
Now not much is wrong with the stuff that came on the Rikon, just not as accurate or slick as the above. In fact, the Rikon is a great saw, even if the instructions suck.
I ordered the other stuff and have been truly amazed by how much they've made a good BS really great.
Their ads haven't overstated their worth.
I now get really smooth re-saws (which I need for the jewelry boxes I make), the saw runs much quieter than before, I haven't as of yet seen any drift, and the fence is a pleasure. I went the whole hog and got the micro positioner from Kreg too. Not really necessary, but for the extra $13.00 I decided to be a sport and try it.
Beats the heck out of banging lightly on the fence to get it "just so".
In the past, I always thought that a new set of bearings was a waste of money, Rikon provides roller bearings as standard equip. but they are a bit finicky, especially since you need an allen wrench to lock the settings and for some reason, it always gets knocked off when you tighten them.
The Woodslicer blade makes the Timberwolf look cheap. And the Timberwolf is one heck of a good blade. The Woodslicer just eats up the tropical wood I use in my boxes, like Ebony and Rosewood.
Yes all this stuff costs, but after a few weeks, they paid their own way in ease of use and the lessing of wasted expensive wood.
