As part of my remodel I built a new planer cart using Birch VC shop grade. I meant the interior to store several hardware containers. I didn't think I had my tolerances as close as I actually did, and when I set the fence up for the dado I had it slightly wider than it needed to be, as I usually do and flush trim it up at the end. Unfortunately it was just enough to cause the containers to be extremely tight and not want to come out easily.
I'm talking I need no more than 1/8" total more width on the inside to have the containers be able to move in and out freely. I had thought of a few possible solutions, but I have to remember I will have a 75-100lb planer sitting on top and I need it to be as structurally sound as possible.
1 - use washers where I screwed the top and bottom in place. Should net me more than enough room to slide the containers but I'm worried about how much less of a shelf that will sit on.
2 - router off the top layer of veneer, either in whole or where I need it. Not exactly looking forward to doing that.
3 - attempt to sand off enough clearance off of every container.
I'll post a picture of what I'm talking about when it gets light outside.
