I am planning to install the transfer switch for my generator this weekend or next. I have most of the work planned but one more question. The transfer switch kit comes with an outlet box that wires to the switch. You plug the generator into this box. The kit also includes a cord that you plug into the generator. The existing plug on the cord is a NEMA 4-prong: 2 hots, neutral and ground. The generator only has 3-prong outlet 240V outlets. Can I safely buy an adapter or make something that takes the ground from the plug and grounds it? The generator does have a ground screw that is supposed to be hooked to a good ground.
I can take pics if needed.
