Pop Woodworking and Woodworking Magazine Merging

(I'm posting this in the Getting Started section because a question newbies frequently ask is, "What is a good woodworking magazine for me to read?")

As the subject line says, Popular Woodworking and Woodworking Magazine, currently sister publications from the same editorial staff, are being merged into a single title. I buy Pop Woodworking off the newstand from time to time; I like it all right, but have never subscribed. By contrast I started buying Woodworking Magazine beginning with Volume 1 Number 1, eagerly sought out each new issue (for the first few years, it was published only twice a year), and became a subscriber as soon as subscriptions became available, which if memory serves coincided with the magazine becoming a quarterly. This little magazine is, far and away, my favorite woodworking title. If you're not familiar with it, you don't know what you're missing.

The blog entry I've linked to indicates that much of what has made Woodworking Magazine great will be carried over into the combined publication -- and that's good news, to be sure.
