2nd oak end table to complete the group

Ok, I know you're getting tired of my family room furniture but.... I figured I needed a second end table. I don't care for matched sets myself, so I built a different one. Derived from a Wood Magazine plan. I made a few changes.... Ok, alot, the basic shape is the same. White oak. 4 or 5 coats of clear gloss Deft lacquer. Zich you got your long drawer pull, just a different design. Pat

Excellent job Pat. How do you like working with the Deft finish?

I wish I could afford a case of it a week. (I've been using rattle cans.) I don't know how it's gonna hold up over time but I love using it. I can spray a good level coat on something like this end table in about a qtr of the time it would take me to brush it on and get a much better job. And I really like the deep looking finish. Of course it's not something I'd use inside the house. Pat

Sure is a nice looking piece of furniture you made there. I love that design and the finish is something I can only hope to be able to do someday. Good job.

The drawer front was the first thing to catch my eye, too. Beuatiful work, Pat.

Believe it or not..... I went through a pretty good size stack of oak looking for the drawer front and the false back. And another huge pile of scrap looking for the drawer pull. Who needs straight grained "perfect" wood anyway???? Oh, and it's amazing what a hack like me can do with a rattle can of spray lacquer. Pat

Another beautiful piece, Pat. I too really like the drawer front. I've never understood why some woodworkers think only straight grain looks good. I like the unusual patterns of wood.
