    First bowl

This proud young man is my son, Joshua. He's 14 years old, and has just begun turning. I think he did a great job for his first project! His bowl is about 6" x 2", turned from Quebracho, sanded to 600 and finished with Shellawax. He (we) found out that this wood dulls tools very quickly!

He's already talking about his next project, and has quite the wood stash! Thanks for looking.

Either talent runs in the family, or your a great teacher. Nice job.

Me thinks you better start shopping for another latthe!

I agree, with 3 talented turners in the family, your gonna need more lathes!

Thanks for all the kind comments! He's grinning from ear to ear!

You're all right - one lathe isn't going to cut it anymore. My lathe time is already cut to 1/3 what I used to have, and now my 10 year old son says he wants to learn, too. Guess a near-future project is building a platform for him to stand on (his smile is directly in line with the axis). On the other hand, it gives me a chance to spend quality and quantity time with my kids. And what a sense of accomplishment for all of us! However, better begin thinking about saving for Christmas . . .

As for the Oneway? In my dreams!! I know what they can cost, and with three kids . . . It's a good thing they've been winning wood at our turning club's raffles!
