    California Peppertree Fruit Bowl

This is the second of two pieces I made for a charity auction by Cornerstone Center for Early Learning in St. Louis, MO. This is from California Peppertree, and final dimensions of 11in diameter and 4in height, with 1/4in in the walls and 3/8in bottom thickness. Finished with sanding sealer, EEE ultra shine, and Shellawax cream. Thanks for watching!

Very nice Bill. What are you using for finish with your bowls? Does it depend on the intended use?

Thanks Jon. Yes, my finish does vary by intended use - decorative and fruit bowls, I use the Shellac/BLO/DNA for sealing, then EEE ultrashine, and Shellawax. For salad bowls, I'm using Mahoney's walnut oil.

Wow... that's beautiful. Also, the wood is interesting. It's like a more figured walnut.

Thanks guys. I haven't found another wood quite the same, and I like it quite a bit - it's as hard as Ash when dry though, so a little hard to work. It's also prone to cracking while it's drying, so hard to get a nice large blank.
