    Grizzly lathe

Grizzly has a new lathe in their catalog and on the web site. It is on a cast iron base. The catalog calls it 1/2 HP, the website and the tech support people say it is 3/4 HP. Has anybody tried this one or know anyone that has? Looks to be a good buy if it is a good lathe. Most of what I have heard on Grizzly equipment has been good.

I had the older G05979 and was happy with it but all I was turning was pens. It took up to much room in my shop so I traded down to a Jet 1014 and am happier with it.
I would have reservations that 1/2 HP, as listed in the catalog, is enough on a full size lathe for larger projects.

I was concerned about the 1/2 HP, but I contacted them and they assured me the web site figures were the correct ones-it does have a 3/4 HP motor.

I have had really good luck with Grizzly especially with the service department. When I thought my capacitor went out they had me one in two days. When my belt needed replacing they had one in the mail. I guess what it comes down to when buying the Chinese machines the company standing behind the machine they are selling. So far with me Grizzly has been great.
