    Scott, I am going to order the Cummings also since it comes with a lot more stuff. I was thinking about ordering some stuff from Enco as I have had good luck doing business with them (With the exception of there threaded rods which suck).

    Lee, thanks for the link but they want 98.17 shipping. I was kind of hoping to make a run to Harbor Freight and just pick one up and also get the collet chuck set. Probably don’t have them in stock though, seems the Harbor Freight in Houston never has anything in stock I want.
    I had to order my collet set because they did not have it at the Houston HF store. This link shows out of stock but their collets sets are fine and cheaper than the HF set shown on the page with their mill.

    Ken,
    Wouldn't it be less expensive to draw up the pully that you want, take it to a local machine shop and have it made to your specs?
    That way, if it doesn't come out right, you can have it reworked, for free.
    Just a thought, YMMV

    Wanna save a few bucks?

    This is the one that I have. It's the same mill at $100 cheaper, but with $54.00 shipping to me. Not sure how much you would have to pay. The HF one is only $8.95 shipping, but.........
    Congrats on a great pouting job. You should pick it right back up then. I said you could teach us a thing or two. Can't wait for the first tutorial on threading. []

    Ken,

    What Lathe are you ordering?
    I got the Cummins that Lee suggested and it arrived last night. I'm pleased with it even though the cutters are only tool steel. I'll get some on Ebay or from HF.
    She had been inspected for damage and is nester in her box with the Jet VS Mini, a 1"x42" belt sander, and a Jet DC, all waiting for phase 2 of the turning center catastrophe to be over.

    Scott and Lee are BAD influences!

    Well now you guys have went and done it! I finally pouted enough to where the wife said I could order the lathe next week and I am also thinking I am going to buy this mill next week;

    See what ya’ll did! I have visions of all the things that I want to make in support of my wood turning habit with this equipment.

    Now let’s see how fast I can pick things up. I grew up in a machine shop as my parents owned one the whole time I was growing up and I worked in it a lot (slave labor). When I first came to Houston in the late 70’s I worked in a fabrication shop as a machinist and still have most of my tools so this should be a fun journey.

    All this cuz I can’t find the size pulley I want! Dang you guys.

Working...
