    Pen outside diameter size

What is the smallest diameter of pen mandrels, drills and sets available? I haven't started buying yet, but I will soon. I like my Cross pen and have had one for the past 20 years. I like my Cross pen size, but the outside seems no larger than 7mm; but I have not measured yet. From what I have seen posted, very few pens have the proportions that suggest such slim turnings as the Cross.

For those of you in the know, I would appreciate your input.

The standard slimline kit is cross sized and most use the cross refills. Like you, those are the ones I like. They use the 7mm mandrels. I have never attempted to make any of the other "funky" pens

Using Woodcraft's slim line pen kits you can get down to about 8.25 mm outside diameter.
