    More Lost Tools...

Well, I've misplaced another tool in the shop, actually two this time. I know I have a greenish yellow plastic center finder from Woodcraft and a really nice walnut and brass one from Wood Magazine as a Christmas gift for Host work there. Again, I turned the shop inside out with no results. So, now I'm "reduced" to making one. I purchased a stainless steel rule today at Home Despot and am gluing up a body from a couple of maple scraps. This one will be much larger since it's for use in bowl turning so it will be harder to lose.

Show us a picture of it when you finish it.
Losing tools, - that is something I come to accept of myself! I recently found my right handed grip claw hammer last month, in the attic and it had been there about 12 years!

Is that anything like a lefthanded monkey wrench?

I dropped my favorite tape measure in my friend's large attic about 35 years ago. It disappeared somewhere in the insulation. If I had owned a metal detector, I would have searched for it! Glad you found your hammer.

I lost a pair of black tweezers that I used to pick up calibration weights to avoid handling them and contaminating them with oils and moisture and dirt that sticks to that that changes the mass.
Just used it for a few minutes in a small area but they are gone...

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Jim, back in the mid to late '90s, Home Depot had their own brand of hammers and they had two models - the grips were make for right hand or left hand. I have loved using that hammer - when I can find it!

Ridgid RH 18 oz hammer ebay listing
        https://www.ebay.com/itm/267095628870?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=P99z0PArS6G&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=YBxAf3bm Q3 u&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Seven RH ones listed currently but zero LH ones but since only 10% of the population is LH, maybe you just need to be patient and set a eBay alert

Searching eBay completed items, two left handed Ridgid 18 Oz hammers sold last quarter of 2024
        Looks brand new, these.
So, maybe just patience would be rewarded.

Better buy a spare before you lose it again. I find having spares makes sure the original doesn't break or get lost.... something to do with Murphy.
