I got this to replace my 20 year old craftsman. The craftsman still worked but the filter kept falling off since they changed the filter design a few years ago. This dewalt is much much better. It's not as loud, has twice the suction (not scientific), hose stays connected, it uses bags (optional) to capture dust, filters are washable (haven't tried that yet) and is slightly more maneuverable. I love it. It even has a nice cord wrap and hose wrap. The accessory bag isn't the greatest but it works. Wish I bought it years ago.
