    Found ths scissor snips I was lookig for, they're called utility shears for the Wiss brand. They don't quite get me close enough to the plate, but the metal is so soft that I can probably bend it out enough to get the cut started in the right place. I've done about half using the wiggle method anyway, it's just not the cleanest edge.

    At least I've got some new tools.
