Random Orbit Sanders- Help me narrow this down...

I have the fixed speed DeWalt. It performs very well, great dust collection--no add'l adapter necessary to hook up to ShopVac.

I'm not sure I see any special reason to have variable speed, as I've never really needed it. It does fit my hand well, and not a lot of vibration.

Personally I own the Bosch 1295DVS. I got it with the 1587 Bosch jigsaw several years back. Still works great, with little or no vibration. I'll use it until it passes blue smoke.

I have nothing good to say about my Makita.
I LOVE my Roybi sanders, I like the Skil I own, I love the Porter Cables I have used, I have NEVER had a good experience with Makita. The mount shoe or whatever it is caled that the sandpaper mounts to on every single one I have used comes flying off if you take pressure off the pad while it is turned on...

I know lots of guys have good experiences with Makita, but I sure haven't. Maybe I am just wierd, or gotten my hands on some bad sanders, but I really have a bad impression of their tools...

If it's still available in your area, Home Depot had a clearance sale on a DeWalt package, the DW411 quarter sheet and DW421 5" random orbital sanders. The dust collection on the 421 is great, even though I have to use the little bag since I have a 3" hose and haven't bought an adapter yet. It sounds like it has more vibration than the others listed here, but the price of $50 for both is hard to beat. Worth looking for next time you're in HD, anyway.
