Saw that Sears has this on sale this week at $199 (normally $249) and wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it. I need a CMS and was wondering if this might be worth it?
Thanks.
My neighbor had one that was acting that way and we were able to square the fence to the blade and fixed the problem.
I have the saw and also had to square the fence to the blade (which should be done with all saws). I put on the Freud blade for SCMS and it cuts like a champ. However the dust collection stinks and the laser is so so.. Other than that it's a great saw, especially for the diy'ers.
I have squared the blade & made all the adjustments I can find & it still cuts crooked. Now yall have got me thinking that its me ( could be ) I am going to go back & recheck my settings

A chip on the sholder is a sign of wood further up !!!!
let me restate my findings, I have aligned the blade with the fence it cuts square if I just go straight down & make a cut, but if i make a sliding cut it is off just a little over 1/8" from front of slide to rear ???

Lowes has this same saw under the Task Force name, regular price of $199, last I saw it was $189. Not on their website but it was in the store last week.
I asked the salesman about it, because it seems to be a pretty well-thought-out design for the money. He said he gets a lot of them returned, that the motor just doesn't hold up and from what he saw it wasn't as powerful as the ratings say it should be. But that's just what I was told, I never actually used the thing.
I'm sure many people are perfectly happy with them, but at that price you can't expect perfection. If you want to see what where some of the price difference is, look underneath the saw and then look under a DeWalt.
You get what you pay for, the real question is what do you need it for?
