This post was inspired by the thread on the bargin alerts section about the Dewalt ROS at HD. It's really hard for me to pass up a good deal but I've been holding strong so far. I have two ROS's, one 1/4 sheet palm, one mouse sander and one belt sander for a total of 5 hand held sanders. To be honest I really only use one ROS on a regular basis because I don't find it too inconvenient in changing grits. Just curious to see how many hand held sanders you guys have. I guess I'm looking for a reason to get in on that dewalt deal.
How many ROS's do you have?

4 ROS's (3 extra pads -- 2 PSA and 1 hook & loop)
2 1/4 sheets
1 PC detail profile sander
1 Belt sander
They all get used pretty regularly. 3 of the ROS's are 'grit specific' to limit changing.Comment

2 5" ROS (Makita & Dewalt), both hook & loop
1 1/4 sheet sander (Makita too), sits on a shelf unused since getting the first ROS.
1 Ridgid EB4424 oscillating belt/spindle sander.
1 old Craftsman 3x21 or 3x24 inch belt sander. Rarely used. Just too quick/fast cutting, hard to control.
For metalworking, one 6" air powered sander. I never quite got the hang of it... I only use it for the initial sanding/cutting of big stuff. I tend to tip it too much, putting a nice deep gouge in whatever I'm working on. Kinda like the belt sander too...
The ROS units do almost everything sanding related now... The EB4424 hasn't worked too well on the bandsaw boxes - it's just not tall enough. I gotta find a tap-n-die to match the reverse threaded rod on it so I can make an extension.

One Ryobi refurb 5" ROS from Cummins.
Two 1/3 sheet sanders that don't work too well. Very old from my late father's stash.
One 8" B&D "two speed" circular sander, again very old from my late father's stash. This thing will put an impressive gouge in whatever you're trying to sand.
One Ryobi mouse-like sander (can't remember the exact model).
One Ryobi itty-bitty detail sander. Had it for over two years, never used it yet.
A couple of sanding blocks.
I need to get a couple of good sanders!

Since the original post was how many ROS's:
1 Craftsman 5"
1 Ryobi 5"
1 Grizzly 5"
2 Dewalt 5"
1 Ridgid 6"
Had I known at the beginning I would have spent the $$$ up front and not gotten the first 3, would have saved money in the long run.
The Grizzly is by far the worst of the lot, it's the one I loan out.Comment

Two 5" ROS (Dewalt, Bosch)
Two 1/4 sheet finish sanders (Craftsman, Makita)
Two 3" belt (B&D, Craftsman)
One 4" belt (Porter Cable)
One 7" sander/grinder (can't remember/never use)
One belt/disk combo sander (Delta)
One detail sander (Porter Cable)
I use both ROS, Both finish sanders, and the Delta combo sander fairly regularly. The rest see infrequent use at best. I am currently on the lookout for a deal on a 6" ROS and for the Ridgid EB4424.Comment
