    naked workshop

Here is the start of my new basement workshop. It is about 16'x23'. I have just finished with epoxy floor, sound dead walls, suspended ceiling, lights and wiring. Now I am laying out the shop so I can get started on the dust collection system. Sorry about the weird photo but it is a stitched compsite of 4 photos taken from one corner of the shop. I hope to take more as the work progresses. If you look on the left beside the entry door, you will see a fire extinguesher (sp) and battery powered emergency lighting. I got caught in here once when the power went off and had a heck of a time finding my way out. (lot more junk in there at that time.)

Going on around to the right is another door leading into a clean storage room with computers. Next is a Bridgewood 1400 CFM air filter. To the right of that is a sink then the BT3100. I am now in the middle of planing out the location of everything. The first order of buisiness is a dust collection system because it is in the house and while I was building this part, dust got everywhere in the rest of the house. LOML laid down the law and I told her the price (heh, heh!) I bought one of the clear plastic cyclones and have all the parts to build an airfoil fan. I have a workbench that was moved out of the room for the photo. Oh, fun, fun!

Put some tools in there and make a mess or two. LOML wants to know why you need so many less tools and why your shop is soon clean!

Beautiful start, posts some pics as you progress so that we can steal your ideas!

It's a nice shop, but not at all what I imagined when I read the subject line!

Yeah, naked workshop had me ready to start shrieking my safety diatribe.

I am envious. Starting with the light and the fire extinguisher is a great foundation. Looks great!

Looking good so far though. Keep posting pics as you get the shop set up.

Shop space looks great, Lee. My shop was born with clothes on. Never been empty.
I would like to hear more about your cyclone. Got any links to where you got it from?

Stytooner, I got the source for the ClearVue cyclone from Bill Pentz:

The Clear Vue Cyclone, by Bill Pentz, is the superior dust collection system designed to separate 99% of saw dust/chips made by woodworking.

It was delivered one week after I ordered it. There website has a video of the system in action.

The title was intriguing, but as most woodworking authorities caution against any dangling clothing or other items, I'm glad you weren't advocating WW in the nude. Just the thought of such an injury makes my stomach queasy.

Seriously almost, to have a virgin shop just ready for filling with tools--that would be something!!
