    Jigs for the BT3x

    New guy here,

I’m interested how the “old salts” made workaround jigs for the BT3x.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, I thought you guys might have already figured this out.
The first jig I’d like to make would be a Picture Frame Jig, but I’m also interested in other useful jigs.
Is there a “clearinghouse”, like maybe a Sticky somewhere?

    Thanks in advance

Click on Articles in the menubar, then Jigs and you should find a bunch. I don't recall a picture frame jig, but then again there are many things I no longer recall.

And there are articles here more than you can shake a stick at:

Poke around and use the advanced search tool. There are 20 years of BT3 stuff here.

I'm actually in the midst of making a 45 degree miter jig somewhat along the principles of this (but for the BT3 Sliding miter table (SMT) and not using the miter slot) - you make a very accurate 90 degree and use it to cut complimentary angles that don't have to be perfectly 45 but always match to make a perfect 90 degree corner. Eliminates that 0.12 degree error that adds up to a whole degree going around the whole frame (8 times).

I usually post pictures of my works and jigs in process.

I make jigs based on my home built miter slots. Once they are square and parallel to the blade it’s just like making jigs and sleds for a traditional table saw. Click image for larger version

Nice job on the miter slots. And that is one seriously beautiful lathe, but I might be biased :-)

Thanks! The lathe does whatever I’ve needed so far.
