    Arizona Ash

I have a large Arizona Ash that was damaged in wind storms a few weeks ago and needs to come down. I lost one big branch off it about 3 years ago and a few weeks ago 3 more broke where they come off the trunk. As bad as I hate to lose the shade I am going to have the rest of the tree cut down. There are only 2 large branches remaining.

Has anyone worked with the wood from these trees? Is it about the same on all varieties of Ash? Worth saving some of it? I was thinking if nothing else using some of it for turning or bandsaw boxes.

    Hi Don,
I don't think I've worked with that specific species of Ash, but the bark looks like white ash to me, so may be very similar, and might be as nice for turning. How does the grain structure look - same as regular ash? You'll likely want to break it down into planks or blanks and seal for drying (unless you do wet turning).
