    You could do it on a lathe. Turn half a ball, then slice off with the band saw. Keep the lengths short so they can be turned in the chuck only. This method with the right jig would actually give you half a sphere. The other method would be lacking half the blade diameter. Probably not critical in wood.

    You could rig up a ball turning attachment and produce bunches of em.
