Finishing up kitchen

Well, this evening I put on the last of the doors and drawer fronts.
The other side of the kitchen is finally done. Now for the floor.

Looks very, very nice. What kind of wood did you use for the doors and drawers?

The doors are made from solid hickory. I must thank my brother here as he donated the use of his machinery and a lot of his time making them and the face frame coverings. We built the raised panel doors and also made 1/4" thick stock to cover the faceframes. The end panels are covered with hickory veneer.
It was fun and the end result turned out better than I expected, but I'm not sure I'd do the same again.

Although it is always hard to tell from a photo, I really like the tone of the hickory. Plus I'll bet those doors are indestructible.

Here is a close up of one section. All of the drawer fronts were able to be made from single pieces. Yes, they are nearly indestructable..and heavy too.

looks beautiful! when we were moving into our house, i should have asked the builder if there was an option for do-it-yourself cabinets! great job!
