    Finishing MDF

I want to roll a very smooth coat of Latex onto some MDF, I have a bottle of flowtrol. and a 3/8" nap nylon roller cover, and some good satin latex, should I prime the MDF with some shellac thinned to 2 parts alc to 1 part shellac to make a nice sealed surface?

I have been needing to ask this question since right before the upgrade...

What many forget to do is to sand the MDF first, assuming that it's already smooth. Hit it with 320 or 400 paper and feel the difference! I use an acrylic primer especially produced for MDF as a base coat.
