    uhmw sheets?

I'm looking for sheets, maybe 1/4" to 3/8", 12" x 24/36/48. Not finding a lot on Google, mostly wholesale, larger quantities than I need.

Anybody have a source they've used or know/heard of?

sometimes you can find stuff like that on eBay. search for "Sheet UHMW", people selling cutoffs and scrap. Availability and pieces vary greatly from week to week so keep trying.

Try McMaster-Carr. They have it in any shape you need. I used to buy alot of UHMW from Cadillac Plastics also but that was a few years ago.

Mcmaster.com will have what you need but it might not be the price you expect. I bought some very cheaply from peachtree woodworking.

Mcmaster costs for standard grade UHMW 12x36
        1/4" $26
        3/8" $29

Thanks, guys, I'll try them all.

Go figure! As a last ditch effort, I tried Amazon. Bingo! 3/8" 12 x 24 was at least $20, plus heavy shipping charges ($20 PLUS!), from anywhere else. From Amazon, $13 plus free shipping with their new "FULFILLED BY AMAZON' program where they store a retailers stuff and ship it for them.

If anyone has a need/use for uhmw rods, they have a lot of pieces, apparently on closeout, for $1.00 each, various sizes.

            UHMW Polyethylene

This is a manufacturer of UHMW - Garland Manufacturing

They make a high-visibility yellow color which is pretty good for rails and bumpers or guards.

Wow, those colors are pretty snazzy! I might even be able to impress my wife with them!

                Herb,

Thats a good price but I just looked on amazon and couldnt see anything for that price or with free shipping - I guess I must be blind. Could you supply a link..
                Thanks

                  You could try www.superslide.com

They have different colors of UHMW as well. I bought a 1/4" x 4' x 10' sheet of their Blue Iron for $150.00. They also have a monthly specials page with remnant pieces.

US Plastics has it in 12 and 24" wide cut sheets.

                      Here's the link:

                      Two things;
the website didn't give me free shipping, I had to call them, maybe it's fixed by now. The deal with the free shipping is listed under the green words 'in stock', where it says fulfilled by Amazon, once you initially click on the product. If you click on that it will tell you that anything fulfilled by Amazon, with a $25 order, gets free shipping. BTW, the 'special offer' on it is 15% off also, so price should be -15% and free shipping.

the $1.00 deals are gone! They changed them about an hour after I left there??!

Now that the sane folk have given you some real replies.....

When I saw that subject header my first thought was, "Roll over at night and slide right out of bed because those $%^^ UHMW sheets were too slippery"
