That may not be accurate. I've worked on a lot of stroker motors with gummed up rings and other issues from running excessive oil. They were motorcycles, not garden equipment, so maybe there's a difference, but probably not. Those issues often lead to more damaging things, such as piston slap.

I don't see how a moderate amount of excess oil could cause gummed up rings or piston slap, a little extra oil is not usually harmful. If it is a large quantity of excess oil, I guess it might cause issues.
FWIW, I have had no issues running 25:1 fuel in string trimmers that specify 50:1.Last edited by woodturner; 04-09-2021, 06:06 AM.
