    Carpet to vinyl floor problem

As you can see from the photo, I have a problem with my living room carpet (due to both pets and little kids) that used to nicely be separated from the vinyl floor in the kitchen, but now is all frayed and really ugly. It is a curved cut. I am by no means a handyman when it comes to fixing things. Any suggestions on how to fix this mess without having to replace the carpet? Links to the parts necessary would be extremely helpful as well as I truly am a novice, but I am willing to put in the work to get it done.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

It looks like you have edging metal. It works like the image in that you can lift the edge up. Then use a knee kicker that you could rent to being the carpet over and lock down on the tacks. Then tap the cover back down carefully.

Thank you for the quick response. I will give that a try. If i am not able to get it stretched enough to get it to lock down on the tabs, do I have other options?

In many cases there is usually enough stretch to make up the gap that yours shows. If you use a knee kicker starting a bit past the breakaway area and work your way across the gap it should pull over enough.

If not, I guess you are left with the decision to replace the carpet.
