    Attaching pocket rod brackets

My wonderful wife has decided to use pocket rods on the four windows in two of our bedrooms. I have always had an issue with these. She always wants them located outside the window frame with nothing but drywall (no stud) to attach to.
These brackets have just little nails and are designed to go into the window frame.
How do I attach the to the wall?
One idea I have is to screw a small 1/4-inch thick block of wood to the wall (wall anchor into the drywall) and then nail to the wood.
    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Why use nails? Use smaller diameter screws with plastic drywall sleeves.
I think in straight lines, but dream in curves

Don't know what "pocket rods" are, but to screw to drywall with no backing, use small toggle bolts, or hollow wall anchors.
