After 14.5 years my Kenmore washer has a broken lid switch! This will be only the second part I've had to replace. The bad thing is the transit time for shipping. Oh well, could be worse..... could be buying a new washer.

We bought a new Kenmore washer and dryer in 1990. We replaced both units this January with a Samsung pair.
The Kenmores were still running when we replaced them, I'd say 20 years of use, we got our money's worth out of them.No good deed goes unpunished -
I had the same problem a few years ago, I just hardwired the switch in the closed position until the part arrived. My girls though it was cool to watch the washer running with the lid open.Chr's

I hard wired mine too about 3 years ago. No kids in the house so I haven't bothered to fix it.

The screw bosses broke out probably from the lid being slammed shut one too many times. I was able to zip-tie it closed so that the machine works. I'll sometime get around to ordering the part.Donate to my Tour de Cure
