Great review on Bt3000

Makita made one almost identical to the BT3000 in the late '80s or very early '90s, but evidently it was only for sale and use in Japan. I had read the early ads for the Ryobi BT3000 and then went onto a church build site (in Japan) around '90 or early '91 and saw the Makita being used. I later picked up a Makita tool sales catalog (in Japanese of course) and they had it listed in it too.

I am fuzzy on the dates because it was a good while ago, but the church build was while I was living in Tokyo, and I moved to Osaka in the fall of '91.

In the "tool district" of Osaka, I would visit that place often and they had a full layout wide table BT3000 in the shop until around 2003 or 04 and listed for the equivalent of $2,000.00. Around 2003 or 04, I found a Bt3000 in a junk yard without an SMT and still have the 13A motor.( I asked the owner what he was going to do it with it and he said it was junk and I could have it.)

I had one given to me that was in sad but fixable shape so it sits under the bench till such time it’s needed.

Wow, that's an oldie review... probably from a couple of years before year 2000. That's when I got mine.

I agree with the review. It probably sold a few BT3000s.

Jim Frye probably remembers better than me, I think the BT3000 originally came out in 1997 at $600.
