Green Douglas Fir 2x8 for garage shelving project

Hi, my garage is half-buried in the hillside and does not get hot. Do you think green Douglas Fir 2x8's will be ok for shelving, or will they inevitably leak sap all over everything? Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't use "green" lumber for anything! It will most likely warp, even on it's own, but especially if you load the shelf. As far as "sap" is concerned, I've even had supposedly aged stock leak sap, as I recently noted in a two-year old work shed that I have.
