    rolling pins

I am enjoying the new lathe and "turned" out some rolling pins today. A friend saw my first attempt on Friday and ordered 4! The basic turning takes 10-15 minutes but the cleaning up and sanding take at least another 30!

Those look good, maybe you have found a niche. Don't they need a more bubleous ends? Cause when you go upside somebody's head you might loose your grip and sling it across the room and break something?

I am frantically trying to get my new website launched so I can go live with my wood crafts business. I am also aiming to attend some craft fairs in the run up to the holidays. I am trying to make some stock of various things to see what sells and get an idea on ROI on time and materials.

BTW these are French Rolling Pins and obviously the French have perfected the technique of holding these appropriately for the "upside the head" usage!!

Look lethal. What are these made of? Maple and walnut from the pool table legs?

These are actually Cherry and Walnut and for once NOT from the pool table legs . I am nearly through all the square block ones which have become cutting boards or pepper mills. I am left with the shaped and round ones which I am still trying to figure out what they can become when they grow up.

Great job on those rolling pins Jon! As for the round table legs - sounds like good stock for hollow forms. Cut to length and have at!

Thanks Bill. I had thought the same about the legs but when I originally only had the little nova it didn't really have the power or stability. Now with the beefy 1642 I think it should be a different proposition.
