    Basement Stairwell Cabinets

This is one of the projects on my honey-do list...
We built cabinets in between the 2x4's going down to the basement.
We covered all the walls with the back side of old paneling.

The cabs were made from all scrap wood in our wood pile--oak,
pine and poplar. We stained the cabs with minwax natural with three
coats of poly. We stained the walls with weathered oak, and two
coats of poly. The knobs were adopted from my sisters old kitchen cabs.
The safety grab bar going down the center, was made from
one of our kids hockey sticks.

The only thing we purchased was the new light.

I'm delighted with the extra storage space.

This is the only pic I can load, having trouble loading the thumb nails?

A wider picture showing the stairs would be helpful - I'm having trouble getting the orientation from the photos posted.

I've been thinking about something like this myself.

Ok woodturner, but it'll have to be tomorrow cause
          it's too dark now.

          more, that I took earlier

Yes, absolutely, our goal was to have it for extra storage. Since the stairwell
is off the kitchen -- it comes in handy for all cleaning products and extra
space for grocery spillovers from my small kitchen pantry.
The first cab on the right is a broom closet...I was surprised how much stuff
that I can get into these cabs.

it's not fine cabinetry, but it works in a stairwell. The bonus is
we used all scraps on hand, including the backwards paneling on
                  the walls.

They are also all easily removed, just in case we need extra room to
get something up or down the stairs.

Cabinetry looks very good, and fitted well. Great use of space.
