Small parts storage & used drug bottles

I used to get a lot of prescription meds for a family member and I often use the old bottles to store small parts. A couple years ago I started drilling holes in 1/4 ply and hanging them from hooks on my pegboard. Effective but ugly.

Well, tonight I went out into the shop to "cool down" after a heated conversation with a credit card company (another story altogether ), grabbed a couple pieces of old maple wainscoting and finally finished the job. (Well, not quite finished, but you know what I mean.)

The rack holds 60 bottles on four slide-out shelves. I use it for lots of random stuff like hooks, washers, plugs, modular jacks, picture hanging hooks, coins (spacers), etc. It's handy because you can pretty much see into all of the bottles pretty easily.

Here's a photo. Let me know your thoughts!

That is a great idea. I need to do something like that for my shop.

That's what I was just thinking with the baby food jars in my garage...

Careful, it looks like a "Garage Pharmacy"...very popular in some less developed countries.

I like the idea of using baby food jars too, wider opening for those of us with "fat" fingers.

Darn! I get my prescriptions by mail order (no co-pay), but they come in opaque plastic jars. The jars are nice, but you can't see what's in them.

Otherwise, terrific idea. How come someone else always gets the good ideas?

                        Regards, Steve

                          Removing labels

How did you get the labels off?

I have tried hot water and soaking but have not been able to remove the label and glue residue.

                          TIA, Don

I've actually gotten pretty good at this, but I suspect it has a lot to do with the adhesive labels my pharmacy uses. That they use a clear tape (like packing tape) over the label tells me that the label adhesive is probably not the best. So I just find the end of the tape and start lifting it off gently, all in one piece.
