    Swinging!!!

Last year I posted some pics of a "Jake's Chair" I made from recycled redwood that came off an old pool deck ...

About 20 years ago I gave my wife a backyard swing for Mother's day ... over time the cedar 'swing seat' had rotted to the point it was an eyesore and a hazard . As a Mother's Day gift this year ... I rebuilt the swing out of more of the old deck wood and gave the frame a coat of paint ... she's pleased!

That is an attractive seat. Also a good way to keep out of the hot seat.

      Morning Bade...

Nice way to use what ya got... ya can just go swanging. ha.. ha...

My neighbor builds yard and porch swings along with other lawn furniture for a living as he has built up quite a clientele through word of mouth and craft shows.

      Nice job again...

Very nice. My brother wants a decent porch swing, and this has me thinking I could build a decent one for him.

As a side note, looking at your title I thought I had gone to the wrong internet forum for a second....

BigGuyZ --- THAT was the point of the title .... to get yuo to look

                  guess it worked ...

                  Thank you for the complements!

Truthfully, this was easier to do than I anticipated .. I spent as much or more time planing the wood down from the weathered stock to the 1 1/8th thickness than I did actually 'making' the swing ... I had the advantage of the old dilapidated swing to use as a pattern and except for a little freeform on the arms and braces (both patterened of the old swing) it was mostly rip saw and roundover. It took a while to predrill the 75 holes in the slats.

Nice swing but I couldn't get a good reaction from it...The 'Boss' hates green!
