This bookcase is based on the Wood mag plans. I left off the dentil molding. I also chose not to make the top rail 3 inches wide because I didn't want to lose that storage space. (That's what I tell myself but really I didn't notice until the thing was almost complete. It works out anyways). For the finish I used General Finishes Light Oak. It took a quart to cover it with one coat. Then Minwax Polyacrilic gloss for three coats. One coat of the semigloss to finish it off. The thing I'm most happy about is that it took 3 weekends. My 2 cents. Thanks for looking.

That looks VERY good!
I will begin making two that will look almost the same (hopefully) for my middle daughter in a couple weeks. She has been after me since we got home last summer to build one.Hank Lee

Nice looking bookcase. I don't know how much the top rail is off from the plans, but it looks porprotional.Don, aka Pappy,

Looks good to me
I think leaving the dentil molding off was a good idea. It tends to make the project formal and busy with detail. I like the clean lines of your bookcase. That and the stain/finish make it very classy.

The thing wrong with that book case is that it is not in my living room. Excellent job.Larry R. Rogers
