Something in my SMT popped.

I agree, milling is an option to make a slide guide. It’s just not an easy option. I have milled quite a few parts on a mill, and by far the most difficult are small parts. It is very hard holding a small part on a mill.

Black walnut has the most definitive guide - I benefitted from it a lot when I was tuning up my saw a couple of years ago.

Another option is to mill them on a milling machine with uhmw or other slick and durable plastic.

Thanks for posting the link Loring,
If anyone would look at post #81 on page 6 of that link, they'll find the final design an photos of the slides designed by 'atgcpaul'. I helped him with the necessary drawings and 'stl' file and aas you can see with the photos, they came out quite nicely. I tested the initial samples on my SMT and they worked fine. Nice part of the design is that it's only one part, which used as a pair (both top and bottom are the same design) are less prone to breakage than the original OEM design.
Paul had sent me a set, but I never use them as my original slides are still going well. As I recall, I sent that set to Pappy, as he was need at the time. I presume that he had success with them as I never heard back that they presented a problem
In any case, there is a link in my #81 post from Loring's link.
I do have a 3D printer now, but my grandson changed jobs and is no longer interested, so the Prusa kit is still sitting in the box, unopened. Hopefully I'll find the time to get to it this summer. (Other wise I'd be printing these slides for you all.)

And just so I have a reference page that gives me the links, here is the article for the SMT alignment.

Thanks for the link, and thanks Black wallnut for writing up the article / howto. Seeing it apart makes a LOT more sense now...
Now I wait for delivery of my parts :-(
FWIW, How I did it?
Stupid of me, but I was cleaning around it, stooped down to pick up some cutoffs that fell under the saw, and caught the corner of hte SMT with my shoulder...

You might look in the articles for the SMT slide article I authored, complete step by step with pictures.

I think I see the problem...
I beg forgiveness for my ignorance as I bought mine used and the SMT was already installed. The exploded diagram didn;t make sense, but Jim Frye's photo does!
Ordered the set of OEM slides. Now I dig for the setup guide! I should probably bother setting up my rails better anyway. My gauge is off by about 1/8"

Went back down to the shop and dug out the box of BT3K parts. I have every plastic part except the SMT slides. How did that happen?
