I've never had to mess with them. There are four slides. that hold the SMT to the base and allow it to slide.
Three of them are held by eccentric screws and one is a fixed screw. the eccentric screws allow the guides to move back and forth the amount of eccentricity to align the SMT to run parallel to the blade.

Original slides are impossible to get but people have come up with ingenious round slides that are simpler. Can be machined or 3-D printed.
There is an lengthy thread on the topic somewhere. here is the drawing for the part.

There are several parts to each slide, but I'll bet one of the flange pieces that keeps the SMT from moving up and down broke. It's been so long since I've had the thing apart, I'll have to go look at it. How about a picture of the sloppy area? My BT3000 SMT is covered by something being varnished, so I dug out the SMT from my BT3100 that's been laying under a shelf unit for the last six years. Same parts except the main base is black instead of silver. The slides are composed of two plastic guides and a screw. As I recall, the guide parts can be rotated to use the opposite side in case of wear or breakage.Last edited by Jim Frye; 04-18-2022, 06:26 PM.👍 1Leave a comment:

I am betting LCHIEN knows the answer in his sleep. My SMT did something funny, and, well as you face the saw, on the left side the I guess it is is the slide closest to the operator appears to have broken.
Simply put it just kind of flops around now...
Anyone have a good idea what parts I am going to need, where to get them, and how to install them / realign my SMT?Tags: None
