    Shimming the dado throat plate.

When I was working on my box joint jig, I noticed a problem, unless the stock was either started over the throat plate, or clamped to the fence, it would drop once I crossed the throat plate...

Using a straight edge I noticed the throat plate was noticeably below the height of the table, causing the alignment issues...

Now this looked like an easy fix for sure, and it was!

(Yes that is the riving knife from my shark guard... It was handy)

I used 3 layers of silver duct tape. I even added some not pictured to the side to bring it all up and level.

Not knocking the Shark Guard, but the edge on it isn't perfectly straight. I should have used a true straight edge for this... Just the wrong tool for the job is all... But you CAN see from the photo, I am WAY closer than what I was , no possibility of stock dipping and slipping any more!

Who knew duct tape could be used to make fine adjustments?
