I have been through a ton of threads - not sure I am seeing what I am looking for - does any one have a plan for a simple table insert to go in between the main table top (with the blade) and the Sliding Router table. Looks to be about 10" wide. I have a piece of 3/4 Melamine I would like to use as the finished top surface. Sorry if this has been posted before. Thanks in advance!

the rails slide and the SMT can be clamped anywhere on the rails so 10" would be your current configuration, not a definitive size for anybody.Loring in Katy, TX USA

I used a piece of 3/4" melamine and drilled and tapped two 1/4-20 holes in the saw casting just to the left of the saw table proper. IIRC, I had to shim it with paper.I used a couple of 1/4-20 flathead stove bolts (countersunk into the melamine) to hold the insert in place. Mine is only about 3" wide, though.

Check this thread. Make sure to go through pages 2 and 3 to see the photos. Of course, you don't have to add a miter slot to yours. When I finished these last month, it felt like I had a brand new saw!

My table insert locks into the slot on the rear rail and sits on the front rail. Held left-to-right by the saw table and the accessory table. Held front-to-rear by the rails. Held down by tabs into the rear rails and by gravity against the front rail. Simple to insert and remove. I made it from 3/4 MDF and scrap wood cleats. I believe that I top coated it with lacquer (?) ... made it 15 years ago.
I made it on the fly so the underside looks a little screwy where I tweeked it to fit.
TABLE MOUNTS BETWEEN SAW TABLE AND ACCESSORY TABLE
INSERTS INTO SLOTS IN REAR RAIL
DROPS ONTO LIP ON FRONT RAIL
TABS INSERT INTO SLOT ON REAR RAIL
BAR SLIDES AGAINS REAR OF FRONT RAIL
SIZE THICKNESS OF LEFT CLEAT AS NEEDED TO CLEAR SAW TABLE SUPPORTS
OUTFEED:
TABS INSERT INTO SLOTS IN REAR RAIL
INFEED:
BAR SLIDES AGAINST BACK OF FRONT RAIL.
ENDS OF SIDE-CLEATS SIT ON TOP LIP OF FRONT RAIL.
TRIM TIPS OF CLEATS AS NEEDED TO ALLOW TABLE TO SIT FLUSH (I cut a narrow dado on ends of cleats. Rabbet would be OK)
If the table sits to high, trim the wood cleats as needed. If it sits too low, shim the cleats with metal duct tape.

I have a question that may help the OP if he chooses to run with it: for miter slot accessories like a tenoning jig, does the left miter slot (or right, for that matter) have to be a certain distance away from the blade? In other words, is there a standard on other saws?
I may make mine soon and was wondering if anyone knew.Comment

looks like the best thing to do is try and duplicate the sliding table. Guess I should have arrived at that call sooner. I do want to be able to take it off and put it on pretty easy. Soooooo off to see what I can do....Beaux Ti -

How wide are you needing the table? I picked up a couple BT accessory tables for my 21829. They can be found for $20-30 fairly easily.ErikComment
