I have set the alignment on my rip fence more times than I care to remember, using a framing square between the fence and the blade (blade at full height and avoiding the offset tips). I nonetheless encounter the same problem repeatedly.
On cuts of 25” or more, the edge of the workpiece gets burned, and the blade is actually deflected away from the fence near the end of the cut. Common sense tells me the workpiece is being pinched, which takes us back to the first sentence.
I’ve heard that some woodworkers set the fence alignment with the far end moved slightly away from the blade. But how far I can move it before an out-of-square panel results? Has anyone ever tried this technique? Does anyone have a better solution?
More info ... I am cutting 1/2" Baltic Birch using a Freud 80 tooth finishing blade.
Thanks in advance.
