Stanley FatMax truck box @ Lowe's now $63.xx YMMV

Checking a few Austin area stores, I found the Stanley Fat Max Truck Box reduced to $63.30 from the original $199. The intermediate mark-down was to $99(which is what I thought it was worth) but SOME stores have marked down further. Check your local store on the Lowe's site. You can get an idea of inventory levels also. Here's a linky:

And a bit more about the box itself:

Don't forget the YMMV part...looks like our local stores with multiple units are marking down, some others aren't .

The price is right and it looks like a cool idea. But I tend to think that the "docking" thing would be a pain bolted down in your truckbed. It would be in the way of plywood/drywall/etc even if you had the box removed.

I dunno. My local store has some at the $69 price. So I might go check it out. But I'm skeptical.

I thought I posted this yesterday; but, here goes. BIL's twin-cab, dually, tree-service truck lost the left rear cowling(somehow) and the repair was nearly the same price to convert to a flat-bed with gooseneck hitch receiver thingy and short side rails. As such, he now has plenty of 'real estate' on his bed and could mount the docking station behind the cab, where he has stuff strapped and bungee'd on. Might be a good way to store recip saws, etc. Could also work in/on one of his trailers, I suppose.

On the other hand, this box may be answering a question that no one asked!

San Clemente, Escondido, Margarita(7 in stock now) all have the $63 price. Looks like stores with multiple units are discounting. Don't know where in SoCal you are but the Lowe's site can check inventory and price in a couple of clicks(IF you're interested, of course .

Thanks it's 69 in my area, nice, innovative, lockable and weatherproof but I'm not sure what to do with it. I got a big full-size truck box in the pickup already.....maybe it's handy for camping/fishing (supplies and something to sit on) or tailgating. I don't think I want to stuff my tools in there only to pull everything out to get something.

LA area, Palmdale store $99. I think these sell well enough so they do not have that price, checked store with 60 miles radius too. all $99 some OOS
