    Best CSMS bargain right now?

I am contemplating picking up this Makita Compound Sliding Miter Saw:

Makita 1013FL ($538 after rebate w/ Free Shipping):

    http://www.amazon.com/Makita-LS1013F...0?ie=UTF8&s=hi

I am getting it as a gift for someone and need to get it soon, and I could wait until a little after the holidays, if it'd be a better time to buy.

I was going to get the less expensive 1013L model ($492 after rebate):

    http://www.amazon.com/Makita-LS1013L...0?ie=UTF8&s=hi

The 1013L is without the light (is the only difference the light?!) BUT the 1013L model does NOT qualify for the Makita 6390 DWPE 18V Drill kit (1/2" drill, 2 batts, chgr): http://www.makita.com/assets_promo/f...tersaw_MIR.pdf) whereas the 1013FL model DOES qualify.

    Here is the breakdown:
    $568 - $30 rebate -$100 gift Amazon certificate + FREE drill kit value: $158

So it "costs" $46 (=$538-$492) to get the drill kit, seems like a bargain still (and of course you do get that worklight on the saw!!)

    QUESTIONS:
    1) Shall I "go for it?" (or are there hotter deals out there?)
    2) are there any other Amazon discounts or product codes I can combine to further reduce the price?

Also, for the $100 GC from Amazon, do they count the Original Price or Price after Rebate? (i.e. for the 1013L the price ducks below $500 to $492... would that qualify as $500 purchase for GC?? If not, big hassle trying to "fill in" the missing $8 w/ Makita power tools!)

    Thanks,
    David

The ls1013L is an improved version ,laser,15a vs 13a/ The "F" is a light not a line laser. The laser on this is the best I have used, not reall essential, tooless change of kerf, dead on. The DeWalt is a pain to use, not acurate for example. The Makita is made in the USA, Ridgid ,China, and I do not like roller bearings on the arbor shaft b/c the runout will increase over time. Ridgid service ctrs. are very limited. The fences are better on the Ridgid otherwise Makita is great.
Bosch also is good. Do not buy cheap SCMS, you will be sorry in the long run.

Andrew, you are correct--however note that I am referring to the 1013FL -- this has both the light and the laser.

If you're talking 10" CSMS's, I noticed this PC slider on tylertool for $399 shipped.

They have a coupon for $10 dollars off you can use (dw0106)

and, they have 5% off coupons too out there you can probably stack.http://www.tylertool.com/porsaw.html

I bought a Bosch 4410L off Amazon for $425 shipped last week. I looked at the Makita and the free drill offer also, but couldn't pass on the Bosch.
