    Workforce workbench at Home Depot

Just noticed this today. Workforce workbench with hardwood top and metal base with casters. 135lbs. assembled. I know work force is not a quality brand but for the price I might try it out. Seems solid at 135lbs.

Normally $117 on sale for $39.

Not sure if the link will work but do a search for workbench on the hd website.

Even assuming that they've got the H-W-D all messed up (it can't be 12.4" high!), does that mean the table top is ~1ft by 2ft??

assuming it's not totally messed up I would guess the top is 57" x 23" (wdith and depth reversed)
and they have the height messed up, usually around 32-38 inches for a bench.

I wonder if you could put a router in it. Would the top stay flat enough, you think?

Well I went back to pick up the workbench today. This time I took a look inside one of the boxes and was a bit disappointed. The base of the table looked good, it had a powercoated finish, but the table top was 2 3/4inch pieces of birch ply laminated together. The box cleary states hardwood work surface, I guess technically it does have a hardwood surface but not what I was expecting. I passed on it. Maybe if the price goes down a little more I could get some use out of it. I noticed it was previously marked down to $79, now $39, maybe it'll drop some more. The locking casters alone are probably worth the $39, but since I don't have a real need for it, I'll wait.

I have one for $39.00 it's well worth it. put a plywood shelf in the bottom for some additional storage.

Don't mistake it for a true woodworkers bench though.

Is the table top pretty flat? Is the overall construction of the bench sturdy? Thanks!

                  Ryan,

I have one similar that LOML got from Lowes. I took the 3/4" MDF top and added some 1/2" ply and then some scrap laminate flooring on top of that. It is as sturdy and flat as I could want.

Sad to say that none of the HD's have this in stock in the Louisville, KY area. I called and they searched for me.

To bad as I was thinking of adding a couple more layers of birch ply, making a hardwood skirt around the edge and maybe putting on an end vise. Would be a nice little portable workbench and place to park my dewalt planer.

                        OK for those who asked, the Dimensions are as follows;

                        40 3/4" H x 20 D x 53" W Table top is 1 1/2" Laminated Wood Type unknown, seems like a poly finish.

Top is Flat on mine but it hasn't seen heavy use. It meets my needs in a small basement shop where everything is on wheels.

I found a store with 3, but they are marked at $79. Anyone have a receipt to post?

I was at HD today and noticed the bench was marked back up to $79 from $39. I also noticed 3 more boxes I didn't see before. I've never seen a closeout item go back up in price.
