    More Amazon Bargains/screw-ups

Was just looking at the the bosch routers, and noticed a Freud Special that says buy selected router, get 70.00 of the 200.00 13 piece freud kit.

then below that, it says get a free frued kit when you purchase any select router.

Sure enough, i tried it with the code, and the cart shows it FREE, not 70.00 dollars off. even the code is 7OOFFBIT, so it is only suppose to be 70.00

    PASTED FROM WEBPAGE
    $70 Off Freud Bit Set
Purchase select routers offered by Amazon.com and get a free Freud 91-100 13-piece 1/2-inch shank set.

This is an excellent deal if you can get!

The deal is still there. It's only on "selected" routers though. You just have to find one that supports the deal. You can find it with the Freud router. Scoll down and look under the "product promotions". I also tried it and it seems to work.

      Pricing mistakes

About a year ago another deal site that I go to found a similar glitch in the amazon system. Many people got items shipped to them for ridiculously low prices. Once amazon realized their mistake, they charged the difference to the buyers card/account. In cases where the buyers used a one-time card number or prepaid debit card, the buyer was sent a bill. I believe a few people disputed the charges on their accounts, but I think the best any of them did was get free shipping to return the mispriced items.

Some people had made big purchases and sold them on ebay for a profit. I'm not sure how that worked out for them, but I'm glad I didn't participate.

That said - I ordered a set of Bessy clamps for $19.95 (after the $80 discount). But I have no intention of opening or using them until I'm sure this issue is settled with Amazon.

      Just my two cents.

They can not go back and change to deal after the sell. Period.

According to some members of www.slickdeals.net Amazon's lawyers had a different opinion on that Jeff. I'm not making a legal opinion one way or another, just passing on some experience.

Obviously I think it's worth a shot since I'm taking advantage of the code. I'm just pointing out that there is a risk involved.

          Happy shopping.

Is there a coupon code or something? I don't even see the $70 off in the cart. The code above doesn't work.

They caught up with it yesterday so it no longer works.

As for Amazons lawyers I did a bit more investigating about what went on there is a 25 page thread on slickdeals.net

Seems that anyone that disputed the charges won there case with the credit card company, but some people got so scared of the emails from Amazon they sent stuff back.

I've played this type of game with big companies before. The companies just can't win! If they start to get rude just remind them that if it goes to court it becomes a public issue. It will cost them more than it's worth in legal fees, Air fare to come to court in your state and public ridicule.
              Opinions are like gas;
I don't mind hearing it, but keep it to yourself if it stinks.

Well opinions are like a**holes and most lawyers are ! lol ! Seriously though, I ran it by two lawyers and both say that Amazon can not go back and change the contract after valuable consideration is exchanged. Now if you were getting the stuff for free then that is a different story, as that is NOT a legal contract since the element of valuable consideration (ie money) is not exchanged. That maybe where they got those folks on the slickdeal.com situation.
