what happens when your super glue leaks.

Fortunately I put it on the plastic storage box and not my wife's granite counter! I would have been hearing about that for years to come.

I am thinking the moral of this story is to always set a tube of superglue on a disposable impervious surface. A sheet of aluminum foil works.
just another brick in the wall...

Boycott McAfee. They placed an unresponsive popup on my pc.

The other moral is probably do your work on your workbench and not your wife's kitchen. I always use a counter cover though. when working with glues.

I am also wondering what the shelf life of CA (superglue) is. The ones from HF are over year old and they don't seem to be "instantly adhereing" when I want them to.

Sites on the internet says sealed tubes of glue have shelf life of 8 to 12 months (and all mine are older than that) and opened tubes of glue if well sealed will last 6-8 Weeks.

But this one definitely stuck to the plastic box.

That's pretty much a t-shirt slogan right there.

I've stopped using the little tubes, and only use the bottles. No leaks, last much longer, much better control, etc.

The single use small tubes are what I find most convenient. Put a push-pin in the dropper hole and it lasts quite a while once opened especially if stored tip-end up. There's a surprising amount of glue in those tubes. Occasionally, I'll have one lying around long enough to go off in the tube
A package of 4 individual tubes labeled as genuine Super Glue is $1 at Dollar Tree. For larger quantities, there are packages of two .25 oz tubes for the same price.

Morons gonna moron. I can't find any good use for the stuff at all. I do love a Loctite glue that contains both cyano and poly though, called Go2Glue. Very useful for some repair applications. It doesn't replace my primary shop glues (Fastcap 2P-10), but has good gap-filling and non-drip properties for certain needs.

I admit I have my share of "woops" !!!! when I tripped a bottle of nail polish cleaner aka Acetone on a brand new dinning table we had bought. It removed the lacquer instantaneously and left a blotched spot. I tried to stain it but it shows at certain angles very prominently.

Honestly, it doesn't show up only in certain angles.

Now it happened over a decade ago or shall I say I have given her more instances to push this one down the list ;-) ;-)

Left an opened bottle of CA glue in the mud room. Cue in the cat who knocked it over. Fortunately for the cat he’s afraid of his own shadow and didn’t end up glued up to the washing machine. Also the reason I’m still alive and able to post this.
