The color is a bit dark for my liking but, then, I don't need to like your choice of color. Still a remarkable difference in the appearance of the house and it works well with the choice of flooring. Sort of subdues the fireplace so it is part of the room rather than standing out as a focal point.

The railings didn't show up in the 'before' pictures. Did you have to refinish them or were they good to go?

Last post before headin back over today, needed a break if ya know what I mean. The railings are going to get refinished, looks like moving scratches on the corner post and guess they had a cat or dog as well. I bombed the house twice before we moved in and had it certified bug free as well as a termite inspection before we even set a foot in to start work there. I'm debating restaining the post and then matching the beadboard to that color stain tho it really prolly needs to be white to bring some light into that side of the house. Reason for the lack of a lot of light is the windows have been tinted with a sun reflecting tint as the home sits in full sun,Not a shade tree of any height around, but that will change this fall as I have plans to put several 20-30 ft tall trees in once the weather cools and the leaves drop, just 2 dang hot right now,Cya,Tommy

Looking really good. You going to trim the stepped ceiling? I do like the colors too. I sure wish I could do something like that in my house. My wife thinks it's allready too dark.

You building a new computer too?

Looking more like home FWIW, I have a 1 step tray octagon ceiling and I chose to use crown at the bottom of it, slid some rope light up there behind the crown and then put some small qtr cove molding at the top where the final ceiling hits the side walls of the tray. Most folks think it looks really nice.

Great idea and a lot cheaper than trying to use the 5 5/8ths crown
