I have an older computer( I think it's from 2003!!!!). It has the different card slots for all the memory cards and also for usb devices. My daughter bought a micro SDHC card so she can add music and stuff to her phone. The problem is that my computer will not recognize the SDHC card. Is there some way I can update so my computer will recognize the SDHC card?

Hello Richard,
I agree with Cork that more information would be helpful.
Another question: Is the memory card reader you are using built into your computer? If it is, and the computer is from 2003, the memory card reader may only be compatable with SD cards. SDHC is a newer format and some older card readers will not read them. If that is the case, a new card reader that plugs into your USB port would probably solve your problem.
I hope this is helpful.Comment

SD cards are different than the newer SDHC cards, even though they fit in the same slots. Your card reader may not support SDHC cards. If this is the issue, you just need to get a new card reader. These can be had pretty cheaply (i think i paid $0.69 shipped for the last one i bought).EricComment

When you buy that card-reader, remember there are SD cards, SDHC, mini-SDHC and micro-SDHC, check what card you have, and select appropriately. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Check for driver and firmware updates for the reader device.
A small USB reader can be handy. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-002-_-Product I keep a similar one in a little zip folder that holds my extra memory cards and camera battery.
A lot of phones can be hooked up to the PC for for backups and file tranfers too.ErikComment

Richard, Walmart has a reader/writer
that I bought a couple of weeks ago.
The name is "Targus" and sells for around $8.00 down here in Florida. They had it on display in the camera equipment area. It reads/writers to "SD/SDHC and MICRO SD MEMORY CARDS", and MMC, RS-MMC, SD-HC . Hope this may help you.
edit: it plugs into your USB 2 port.Comment

Update: My clever daughter put the card in her camera, plugged her camera in the computer, and loaded it that way. Too smart for my own good.

I heard about this outfit on this site and have been satisfied with the couple of purchases I made. They are inexpensive and don't charge for shipping. My stuff came directly from Hong Kong.
