Guys and Gals, sorry in advance to those that don't need this. BT3Central was founded to provide a place for people to come and discuss numerous topics openly without fear of flaming. Asking questions or just seeking opinions on a broad variety of subject matter is what a forum is all about.
Topics need not be limited to a particular saw of course, but they are not limited to woodworking either. It is a community of people of all ages and sexes from around the World that can discuss just about any topic under the Sun, with a few noted exceptions.
Those exceptions are in black and white for every Member to read and were agreed to by each of us before being able to log in.
For years, this forum has been self policing. Moderation during that time was pretty invisble save for the few wayward Trolls that
wandered in with specific agendas.
The mods have dealt silenty with numerous Spam and Porn attacks and in most of those cases, swiftly.
Dealing with issues on long standing Members are done through discussions behind the scene. Blantant posts that break or bend the rules need not be discussed by us. As time goes by, we pretty much know what the other mods would think and act accordingly in a effort to keep the peace.
It is not and never has been the intent of the staff here to censor or stiffle freedom of speech and voicing of opinions.
That said, we are back at the exeptions. Topics that aren't discussed and a bit of tact and ettiquette on the users part. What I have been seeing lately though is very disheartening. It is clear that for some reason, tension has developed between some. Whether real or perceived is really irrelevant to the others. None of us see all posts all the time, so there may be a lot of background that isn't known by all.
IMO, these tensions can be handled much better than they have been. I hope to see a change for the better in the near future not just to make my job easier, but to continue a great Community that many like myself, love to come to.
I simply ask that people read what is posted and post with a little bit of tolerance toward others. Calling people out to the mat on a Publically viewed Forum is
Not proper Forum ettiquette and should not be done.
I really dislike posting stuff like this. I feel we all should know this stuff already. I am nowhere near perfect. I try to handle myself online as I would meeting someone face to face.
There will always be tensions between people, but I think how these issues are dealt with has a significant impact on the understanding and the outcome for those involved. I firmly believe that cooler heads result in a more positive solution. Lets use the system in place by the software and PM when we can't tolerate what someone else might be doing. If not for you, then for the benefit of the Community. My thanks to those that already do this and those who might in the future.
