How to be the greatest dad in the universe :D

...spend the weekend disassembling, painting, overhauling, and re-assembling your son's bike with him. Add the finishing touch -- a splash of red inside the chain guard -- and hand it over with a smile, and he'll say with an even bigger smile, "Wow! You're the greatest dad in the universe!"

This is what life is all about!

Being without the blessings of children it is a little hard to fathom the feeling... But I certainly get the idea.. What I noticed more than the paint job was... How much your boy has grown in a little over a year. That bicycle is getting too small for him now...

I love that look on his face in the second picture. Reminds me of the "game face" you see on the NASCAR drivers before the race starts.

My boys are 20 somethings now, but I fondly remember those days. Not so fondly sitting up until 2am to put the bikes together.

Good job! I like the paint job.

Yeah, I was noticing that, too. He still had a bit of toddler left in him a year ago, and now he's just a regular "kid". You don't notice it until you see the pictures next to each other like this... (Plus I think he had a growth spurt recently -- suddenly all his pants are too short!) ...makes me partly sad and partly proud.

 yeah. We wanted to replace them but the guy at the bike shop look at use like we were crazy: "No, we don't have any pedals that small."

That's exactly what it is! It's his game face. Doesn't matter the game -- up to bat, pitching, throwing a dart, racing the bike, throwing a frisbee, whatever. He tries to be confident and a bit intimidating at the same time. He uncle (a lacrosse player) taught him about the game face a while go, and he really took it to heart.

That's in order to toughen him up! Hence...

You could take the pedals off and paint them. He is looking good Alex. My oldest isn't off a tricycle yet. I think her younger sister will be riding a two wheeler before her.

That is awesome! Spending time with your kids is priceless. My wife and I laugh about this all the time.....how can so many parents be so overweight, if they take an interest and stay active with their kids, the kids will make them thin!! LOL if i am sitting more than a minute, my son will come and tell me, ooopee poopee, ooopee ooopee.

Next year add a 2-stroke engine from a string trimmer and the love will continue.

BTW, nice job on the paint!
